Sanctuary

We are taking care of a number of dogs and cats who are not suitable to be re-homed (for the moment) because they have special needs. Of course, these animals are open for sponsorships, as they do need your help and support.

Read the section about Sponsorship or contact us for more information if you would like to help out a dog (30€ per month) or cat (20€ per month) in this way. We will send you regular updates and pictures of your sponsored animal, so you can know what he or she is up to.

Joanita

Female, neutered, born 03.10.2012

Podenco-Presamix

Juanita is a verly loving and affectionate, but a little bit shy and timid. When you have earned her trust, she will be very cuddly and affectionate. She is very social with other dogs in the shelter and she likes running and playing with her mother.

Malu

Female, born 01.05.2010

Streetmix

She was brought here together with her brothers and sisters after being hidden in a hole in the mountains, by their mom Naja when she couldn't find her home and noticed that the puppies were ill. They suffered from Parvovirus, and very unfortunately only 2 of the 5 puppies have survived. Malu has remained quite skiddish until today and doesn't let anyone touch her. Yet, she is not malicious, she just is too frightened and scared of humans. She likes dogs, though, and plays with some of her doggie-friends :-)

Ant

Male, neutered, born.01.12.2010

Podencomix

Brother to Adam

Contrary to his brother, Ant is a more withdrawn but also more playful. He likes to play and run with the pack and also with the  He is definitely smaller than normal podenco dogs, but ever so fast :-). He is supporting Adam and gives him some confidence and courage.

Canelo

Streetmix

Brother of Nena

Canelo and his sister Nena are 2 small dogs, unfortunately still very shy. They are lovely, social dogs, they like to play and run around in packs.
They arrived here with their mom, who was thrown down the wall of the neighbor's house. She then got 3 babies there in an abandoned building and then arrived here at the age of about 6 weeks. Mama and the brother are a little less shy and are already taught.

Yaro

Male, neutered, born 10.03.2010

Podencomix,

Brother of Nayra

A lovely, independent Podencomix. He is the confidant of his sister, who was brought together with him from the Killing House. He is a real Houdini and succeeds in climbing over any fence that isn't thoroughly secured or high enough. He likes to cuddle with his sister and also likes to run around in the garden. He has herited a lot from the Podenco race and likes to hunt, but leaves cats alone, as when he is gentle enough, they share their food with him. Once you get to know him, he jumps up against you, wraps his paws around you and shares his special cuddle with you..:)

Nayra

Female, neutered, born 10.03.2010

Podencomix,

Sister of Yaro

She is very shy and a little bit anxious, and was brought to the shelter together with her brother from the Killing House. They both were quite shy at the time and were lucky to have been saved. In spite of all the love and special care she has received here, she has remained quite shy and cautious. Once she gets to know you, she opens up, but it takes time. Unfortunately Podenco dogs have fewer chances of being re-homed because they do have this hunter instinct.
